Professor Gareth Scott was appointed as an orthopaedic consultant to the Royal London Hospital in 1992 . He has a special interest in lower limb arthroplasty, pioneering research through the Bone and Joint Research Unit and collaborations with the Interdisciplinary Centre for Materials Research at QMUL.

 

Alongside haematology colleagues, Professor Scott has helped develop joint replacement services to support patients with Sickle Cell Disease, and similarly supported transplant services in treating patients with osteonecrosis. He was appointed Professor in 2012 at QMUL in recognition of his contribution to undergraduate education and orthopaedic research. He has been instrumental in the founding of the National Joint Registry and is an Associate Editor of the Bone and Joint Journal and reviewer for the Journal of Arthroplasty

The Gareth Scott Presentation Prize is awarded to the current Royal London Rotation Trainee with the best podium presentation at RLHOTS that year.

The prize is judged by Mr Kash Akhtar (Training Programme Director) and Professor Scott himself. The prize is £250.

Abstract submission opens 1st January and closes 4 weeks before RLHOTS each year.
